Doug Ford, Conservatives win Ontario’s provincial election

The PC Party ended up with a total of 80 seats, winning them the majority.

February’s snap election in Ontario led Doug Ford and the PC Party their third consecutive majority government Thursday night.

“Thank you, Ontario. I will never take your support for granted. I will wake up everyday and fight like I’ve never fought before,” Premier Ford said on social media Friday morning after his election win.

“Together, we’ll protect Ontario,” he said.

The PC Party ended up with a total of 80 seats, winning them the majority. The Ontario NDP won a total of 8 seats, the Liberal Party of Ontario clinched 14 and the Green Party of Ontario reclaimed their two seats.

Locally in the Niagara Region, NDP MPP Jennie Stevens’s won re-election in St. Catharines.

NDP MPP Wayne Gates won re-election in Niagara Falls, NDP MPP Jeff Burch won re-election in Niagara Centre and PC MPP Sam Oosterhoff won re-election in Niagara West.

“We did it Niagara Centre,” MPP Burch said on social media Friday morning.

“I’m honoured to be re-elected as your MPP, and I’m looking forward to continuing to fight for better healthcare,” he said.
