Man wanted for attempted murder in Colorado arrested at Niagara border crossing

Salsa-Gimenez was wanted for attempted murder and assault with a deadly weapon.

A man wanted for attempted murder in Colorado was arrested at the Peace Bridge border crossing after being refused entry into Canada.

Jose Manuel Salas-Gimenez, a 27-year-old-male citizen of Venezuela was taken into custody by U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers and has been turned over to the Buffalo Police Department, according to a CBP press release.

“I am proud of the outstanding work of our CBP officers who are committed to keeping our country safe,” said Buffalo Port Director Gaetano Cordone said.

“Effectively leveraging our national law enforcement resources allows our officers to identify and apprehend these wanted fugitives,” he added.

Salas-Gimenez was wanted for attempted murder and assault with a deadly weapon by the City of Aurora Police Department, Colorado, the release said.

As of the Monday release, Salas-Gimenez was awaiting extradition.

The Peace Bridge border crossing connects Fort Erie, Canada and Buffalo, N.Y.
