Yet another attempted jewellery store heist in Niagara
Employees did not sustain any physical injuries.
Yet another attempted jewellery store heist has occurred in the Niagara Region.
On Saturday, Feb. 15, Niagara Region Police Services (NRPS) responded to an attempted robbery at Harmony Jewellers in Grimsby, NRPS said in a press release.
Store employees indicated to officers that three suspects entered the store carrying backpacks and wearing masks, prompting staff to implement their theft prevention measures.
This prohibited suspects from further entry into the story, according to the press release.
“As a result, all three suspects exited the store and no items were stolen,” the release said.
Employees did not sustain any physical injuries, it added.
Once outside the store, the three suspects linked up with a fourth male suspect who is also believed to be involved in the incident.
The suspects used what is believed to be a sledgehammer to break the exterior windows of the jewellery store before fleeing eastbound, according to NRPS.
Damage to the windows is estimated to be in excess of $5,000, police said.
The three suspects were last scene entering a blue BMW x3 or x5 model leaving the area northbound on Christie St. toward the QEW.
